Good Bye 06/08/2010

Dear Reader,
Thank you for being with me in this blogging experience from AIR to Birthdays to Sports Day to Blogging Challenge. I would just like to take up some of your time  to say good bye. For those who don't get what I am talking about well this is my last ever blog post for this website. I have loved it and I hope you have too. So for those of you who want to know more I will soon be making a new website that will probably be called www.ellabella.weebly.com. Thanks again because I could not have done this without you guys. Before I finish I would like you guys to take a long look at this website because there is nothing else to change, nothing else to add. If you are wondering why I have to stop editing it is because I am now moving to grade 6 and in grade 6 the school will not provide a blog anymore. I hope to hear more from you guys soon. I will comment to tell you my new blog. Again Thank you and stay in touch,
Sincerly,
Ella

P.S. I will miss this
P.P.S. It is hard to say....
P.P.P.S. Good Bye

Introduction

Welcome to my Student Led blog post. In this blog post you will be learning about what I have been doing this year. Also what I have learned and what I have improved on. We will also be looking at what I have to improved on. So sit back, relax and listen to my presentation!

Math

This year I think I have improved in math quite a lot. Especially now actually double check my work. Today I have chosen to show you my mathletics. Here is a snapshot of what it looks like when andy has put activities up. Which means that the activities that he put up are our first prioraties, and we can't do anything on mathletics until we have finished these activities. Here are my summer goals. My first goal is to get a mathletics account. My second goal is to play on mathletics at least three times a week. So that when school starts again

I will not have forgotten everything. Here is a picture of what it looks like when we have logged in. (explain) This is a photo of what it looks like before we start live mathletics (explain). And here is a picture of the bronze cafe this shows that I have 2 bronze certificates. Here is why I think I should get mathletics (explain)

Unit Of Inquiry

This year our topics for UOI were How We Organise Ourselves, How We Express Ourselves, Who We Are, The Exhibition, and Space ( which is our current unit.) Now I am going to tell you about each and everyone of these units.

 How We Organize Ourselves

In this unit we got to create communities containing 2-5 other people. My group was called RPACF which stands for Red Panda Association Charity Foundation, my group members were Erin, Leilanie and Olivia. To earn money we had popcorn and lemonade stand. In total we have had 3 pop-a-nade stands. We had the pop-a-nade stand in the lunchroom for different grades. We own one red panda and we own $1,865.

Here is a link to my How We Organize Ourselves page. And click here to read my community blog post.

How We Express Ourselves

In this unit, we learned about different religions and beliefs, and how different people with different religions live. During this unit, we took field trips to different temples and churche. THe feild trips we took included Chi Lin Nunnery (buddist temple,) a Hindu Temple ( which is Hinduism,) a Christian Cathedral (for Christianity,) an Islamic Mosque ( for Muslims) a Jewish Synagogue (Juish Temple,) and a Sikh Temple (Sikhism.) I really enjoyed learning about all the different religions. During this unit, we also created an essay called a compare and contrast essay, where we chose two religions to compare and contrast! I picked Judaism, and Christianity. I chose to compare christmas and hanukah Here is a link to my essay. Here is a link to my How We Express Ourselves page.
Who We Are

In this unit, we learned all about the different learning styles, and which ones we are. My two main learning styles were Musical and Interpersonal. I agree with that, because I love being with other people, and I love music especially playing the saxophone and singing! During this unit, we also got to do a lot of reflecting on the learners we are.

Here is a link to my Who We Are page.

Exhibition

You may not know it , but the exhibition was a whole unit by its self! The exhibiton was a very long process, 10 weeks to be exact, but it was a lot of fun! During this process, we got to form groups based around a problem, and then we got to research the problem. My problem was Child Abuse, and I was all by my self. My mentor was Alexa. She helped me a lot! She helped me throughout the whole process, and in the end, she got to get one of  cool exhibition T - shirts too!

My action was to make an Imovie showing my interviews with the profetionals, then to change peoples minds about child abuse and for them not to hit their children. The exhibtion went great. But the process was long so click here to see my wiki.

Space

This is our current unit, and I am really enjoying it! For this unit, we get to create our own radio shows on Garage Band. My partner is Thomas Seay, and our radio show is about a scientist called Dr. Altier who finds a new planet, planet X. THoams plays Dr. Altiers son who does not beleive that planet x exsists, so they have a conflict.

Art

Art is kind of my favourite subject, but I still enjoy it! Every week on Wednesday we go to the art room, and we usually have a project to work on, which usually lasts about a month. We also did Artists In Residence. For this year's AIR we got to work with Miguel, making a GIANT snake out of decorated bottles (which you can find in the library). I had tons of fun decorating bottles! After Our 3 days with Miguel, we got to try out another of the activities being done. We got to work with Warren Wills, who was a composer. He helped us write a song about Marlyn Monroe, because he was writing a play about her at the time. Warren was really amazing at playing the piano, because he could just start playing, without any music! It was really cool! I got to come up with the lyrics that went like this ...........Writing

I do not really enjoy to write. I have written many stories, including the one I am just finishing up now, The tale of Li Yang and her explosive story. It is my historical fiction story, and you can access it here. It is not finished but a summary of the book is....... I do not really like what I have written because well I am not really proud.

Blogging

I have really enjoyed this blogging experience, and I really would like to have my own blog. I try to blog every two to three days, but now I will not be able to blog anymore - this is my last post!

I think blogging is really connected to writing, because actually I like to blog more than to write. Tour of weebly website........ I was wondering if you could purchase a mathletics account?(to mom)

Music

This year I think I have been doing great in music, here is my primary school portfolio...

 Conclusion

I have really enjoyed my year, and I hope you have enjoyed my Student Led Conference! So thanks for your time, Bye!

Last week was the G5 PYP exhibition. I am the only one in my group. I did child abuse.  I thought my stand looked really good, I had decorated it to look like the inside of a house you know to make a child feel welcome. I think it went really well. I got a lot of great comments.

Today was the Middle School talent show. My sister was an MC. My

favorite act was probably Hopelessly Devoted from the movie “Grease”.

The song is written by John Farrar but tonight was performed by

Michelle Geffner from grade 7. Her father Jonathan Geffner accompanied

her on piano. She is a really talented singer and she sang the song

wonderfully. During the song I thought she sang it so beautifully that

she really touched me by making me feel sad because it is a tragic song.

I sat next to Leilanie. Before the show started I bought raffle

tickets, I bought three. They were all yellow numbers 35, 36, 37.

Later when they announced the winner it was Ellen! She had yellow

number 40. I was actually pretty close although Erik had 41, but it is

the winner that counts, right? I am very happy for Ellen, and that she

got an iPad. In the intermission I went to the snack table they had

really good snacks. Me and my big sister had made special oat cookies

the day before, they tasted fabulous because when I ate them it felt

like they melted in my mouth. I am looking forward to next years show

because then I can be in it. When I was walking home my mom and I came

up with that Ellen, Erik, Oskar and me could sing an ABBA song next

talent show!

Introduction
Welcome to my parent teacher student blog post. In this blog post I will show you all the areas that I have improved in and what my goals are for the end of the year, and also some future goals. I have linked to the pieces of work within my Blog/E-portfolio to show how I am doing.
Writing
As a blogger I think I have inprovrd in so many different areas. This piece of writing shows one of my first blogs and how I used to write. I thought that I did not add enough feelings, thoughts and link instead I wrote the blog like if it were a journal.
I have also selected this piece to show how I have improved as a blogger. I have started to link and write about how I felt and how I thought I also don't write a journal any more I write as if it is a blog. Below I have marked this piece on a rubric.

My goal

My goal number one is to blog more often so that my writing can improve. To do that I also need to write my feelings and write more discriptions.

My goal number two is to stop hurrying things, because when I get exited (which I get very often) I try to do things 1000 miles per hour but I cant. So to improve I need to go nice and easy you know one step at the time.

My third goal is to listen more carefully, this goal comes along with my last goal being more responsible. Because lately I have not been responsible so I wish I can listen more and be more responsible.

UOI
This year we have done many different UOI topics. The UOI topic that I think I did the best at is community's from the topic how we organize our selves. During this unit I did many pieces of work. The piece of work that I am going to choose to show what I achieved is a blog post about my pop a nade stand. I chose this piece of work because I feel that it is short but it anyway describes how our testing went. And what my feelings were.
Profile
A few weeks ago Andy asked us to look at the profiles that we chose at the beginning of the year. We had to think about the three main profiles that describe us we looked to see if these had changed. The three that I had chosen for myself at the beginning of the year were risk taker, caring and open minded. When I looked back at these three I did not feel I had to change them except I wanted to add communicator.
Maths

During this year I have improved in a lot in maths. I was very pleased with this piece of work from my mathletics acount. This piece of work shows the progress I have made.
My long term goal is to get better at math.
My short term goal is to do extra assignments and remember to do my homework.
Conclusion

Thank you for reading my Parent Teacher Conference blog post. I hope that you have learned more about me and the progress that I have made this year. I look forward to completing my goals. And just to let you guys know I am not only doing great in school because of my education but also because I love my parents and I want to make them proud.

Yesterday I did the coolest thing ever. I went to a a cappella festival. For thoose of you who dont know a cappella is when they sing without any music. Instead they make the music with there mouth. Today everyone came to see the worlds best group (seriously people in the world voted) ever in the world. They are a swedish group called the Real Group. They were so good. In the real group were 5 people they were Emma Nilsdotter (Soprano), Katarina Henrysson  (Mezzo Soprano), Anders Edenroth (Tenor), Peder Karlsson (Baritone),  and Anders Jalkѐus (Bass). It was really cool. It was also a lot of comedy. After when they finished I got then to sign my album. I also got to talk with them, they were very nice. I had a great time!

For the exhibition my topic is child abuse. I am the only one in my group. So far I think it is going very well. My mentor for the exhibition is Alexa Arnold. We have mentor meetings every monday at lunch time. We do the mentor meeting in ms. Jessica's room. We do the mentor meeting there because she is a co-teacher in ms. Jessica's class. I think I have found much usefull information. That is a sign that I am running smoothling. I have had two mentor meeting's so far. I have even made pie chart's. I am overall doing very well for the exhibition.

Is it appropriate for students to use real photos of themselves online?
Be careful what you post online, most of it could depend on security. But overall it really depends on what, and where.
When is it appropriate for students to use real photos online?
I think it is more appropriate to put photos of your self online when you are above 18 and make your one choices.
